Cancer Zodiac Sign

cancer zodiac sign

Cancer (22 June – 22 July)

Ruler: Moon
Principle: Cardinal
Element: Water
Body Part: Breasts and stomach

The fourth sign of the zodiac is symbolized by the crab and ruled by the moon. As a water sign, Cancerians are emotionally deep and sensitive. Because of this, they gird themselves with an emotional armor or “shell”. While they may appear tough on the exterior, inside they are sentimental softies. Cancerian women are the most maternal sign in the zodiac followed by Virgo. The male cancerian is territorial and a devoted and loyal family member who will go to great lengths to defend their loved ones. Cancerians make thoughtful friends and romantic partners who remember birthdays and anniversaries thanks to their extraordinary memory. They delight others with their unconventional, zany sense of humor and gift for storytelling. Many cancerians possess a rich imagination and find fulfilling careers in the arts as graphic designers or writers or music producers.

Despite their various shifting moods, these personalities are quite affectionate and may need to avoid smothering others with their protective love and devotion. Cancerians are often shy with sentimental tendencies and a penchant for clinging to the past in the form of hoarding and the collection of relics and artifacts. Family heirlooms, antiques, and photo albums are often cherished and well looked after by Cancers who take special pride in their ancestry and heritage.

Due to their desire for security, Cancers become particularly interested in money and they often become adept at the acquisition and management of it. As a result, this sign tends to become entrepreneurs and business people who possess a natural instinct for spotting lucrative opportunities. Their cardinal energy is directed towards security-based intiatives like long term investments, savings accounts, and creating multiple revenue streams and financial ventures.

Cancerians often have quite complex personalities. On one hand they may appear as a tower of strength and on the other seem to have the vulnerability of a child. Cancerians are masters of the art of passive resistance. With the influence of the moon on their fluctuating emotions, Cancerians are  naturally mediumistic and can be easily hurt and offended. Their powerful imagination and sensitivity may find an avenue of expression throught the most creative and artisitic platforms.

Positive: sensitive, nurturing, loyal, strong memory, intuitive

The Cancer Decanates:

Cancer with subinfluence of the moon

The moon exerts it’s influence with additional power. The cancerian’s fluctuating emotional nature is amplified. Heightened sensitivity allows them to read others easily

2nd decan – 2 July – 11 July
Cancer with the subinfluence of pluto

The subinfluence of pluto ingenders an element of privacy and love of secrets. This decan expresses itself in a more forceful and intense way. A more enterprising nature makes them less domestic than other decans.

3rd decan – 12 July – 22 July
