6 Reasons Why INTJs Love ENFPs

why intj loves enfp| intj relationships | enfp relationships

According to David Keirsey, the creator of the Keirsey Temperament Sorter and author of “Please Understand Me”, the INTJ and ENFP personality types go together like PB & J. They are opposite in every letter except for one, and so for all intents and purposes this is a clear case of “opposites attract”.

The basis of ENFP and INTJ compatibility, Keirsey believed, lay in the type’s shared preference for intuition (albeit of opposite attitudes). This, he reasoned, was important for communication and mutual interests, while their other differing preferences provide sources of intrigue and fascination in one another. INTJs will be enchanted by the effervescence and vitality of the ENFP while the ENFP will be attracted to the INTJ’s strength of character and mental fortitude. Here are 6 reasons that explain the INTJ and ENFP love match.

1. ENFP and INTJ Both Focus on the Future

As N-doms, both the INTJ and ENFP share a fondness for new and unusual ideas. They will likely enjoy many mentally stimulating conversations underpinned by a mutual appreciation for interpreting potential meanings of events both real and fictional – be it from the news or their favorite netflix series. Both types find each other easy to talk to. They have a special understanding of one another and a genuine interest in unconventional topics. They love having a person with whom they can fully flesh out and articulate some of their most abstract and least expressed thoughts. This is a treat for them because outside of a few select relationships, they are rarely able to share this part of themselves to great extent. It will also be of great value to have someone who really thinks about philosophical questions, history, religion, books, etc.

2. ENFPs Appreciate INTJ Emotional Strength

ENFP types appreciate the calm and objective nature of INTJ personalities. INTJs can provide a grounding influence and a source of comfort and security when the ENFP is in distress and emotions run awry. INTJs take a rational approach to resolving even emotional issues both within themselves and in their relations with others. This can seem an unsatisfying response for feeling types such as the ESFJs who place greater import on emotional support over practical yet impersonal solutions. ENFPs are less emotionally needy in this respect but they do desire feedback from the INTJ regarding ‘how they feel’ and ‘what they feel’ which the INTJ for the most part is willing to oblige.

3. INTJ and ENFP Share Intuitive Humor

ENFPs are humorous and congenial and they can appreciate the INTJs wry and sometimes dark form of humor. Wittiness is a hallmark of the ENFP personality type. They know how to turn on the charm and make light-hearted and amusing banter with almost anyone. INTJ humor is generally more subtle and sometimes unintentional. They may utter ironic statements with such earnestness that the effect is unexpectedly hilarious. Both types will share an appreciation for satire and smart comedy. They amuse one another with unique and creative quips and stories.

4. INTJ and ENFP ‘Love Languages’

At Thought Catalog there is an article in which the Love Language preferences of each Myers Briggs personality type is surveyed. The results showed INTJs rated ‘quality time’ as the most preferred love language while ‘words of affirmation’ was the most popular among ENFPs. INTJs and ENFPs will enjoy spending time hanging out in the same space while doing independent things. INTJs will spend quiet time together sitting on the couch, reading and snuggling, pondering their vision of the future. INTJs love the warmth and genuine compassion that ENFPs bring to a relationship. ‘Acts of service’ was the second most popular love language for INTJs and they are likely to be impressed by the ENFP’s interest in helping others.

5. INTJ and ENFP Social Dynamic

ENFPs can provide a conduit, a nexus through which INTJs can broaden their social horizons and form new connections. INTJs generally disconnect themselves from unnecessary social functions which for them are often a source of torment and discomfort. When they must attend social events however, there is no better companion than an ENFP to chaperone the INTJ and work the room like a politician while the INTJ gladly lets them have the spotlight. ENFPs can help INTJs develop new social skills through observation. The ENFP for their part, can gain from the INTJ’s objective analyses which may provide a valuable perspective to situations that the ENFP had only assessed through the lens of relationships.

6. INTJ and ENFP Shared Values

INTJs are also refreshingly genuine. Compared to other types, they seem incapable of putting up a false pretense. INTJs and ENFPs both possess Introverted Feeling which suggests that they will carry some personal value systems of ‘right’ and ‘wrong’ and share a common interest in morality and ethics regardless of where they actually fall on various issues. They will likely both uphold ideals such as self reliance, personal integrity and honesty. These two types follow a strong moral code that inspires trust in one another and the bond they form is likely to be deep, complicated and fascinating.
