Venus and Mercury Go Retrograde October – November 2026: What It Means for Every Zodiac Sign

This October and November bring one of the more reflective stretches of late 2026 as both Venus and Mercury turn retrograde within weeks of one another.

Venus retrograde begins in Scorpio on October 3, moves back into Libra on October 26, and remains retrograde until November 13. Mercury follows shortly afterward, turning retrograde in Scorpio on October 25 and remaining there until November 12.

That creates a significant overlap from late October through mid-November in which two of astrology’s most personal planets are simultaneously asking for review.

Venus governs relationships, attraction, money, values, pleasure, and the things we decide are worth pursuing. Mercury governs communication, thinking, information, agreements, travel, and decision-making. When both are retrograde, progress can feel less linear. Old conversations return. Relationships require reassessment. Financial priorities shift. Decisions that once seemed settled may need another look.

This particular cycle is especially concerned with trust, fairness, desire, power, and unresolved emotional dynamics.

Venus Retrograde in Scorpio: October 3–25

Venus begins its retrograde in Scorpio, where relationships tend to be experienced with greater emotional intensity.

Scorpio is concerned with intimacy, trust, loyalty, vulnerability, attachment, and the psychological bonds that exist beneath the visible surface of a relationship. During this phase, people may become more aware of what they want from others and also what they fear losing.

Venus also forms squares to Mars and Pluto, adding friction around attraction, control, jealousy, competition, and power.

Old feelings may resurface. Former partners or unresolved relationship situations can return to mind, even without literal reconciliation. Financial entanglements may also require attention, particularly where money and emotional dependence have become difficult to separate.

The larger question during this phase is not simply “Do I still want this?”, but rather “Why do I want this, and what does this attachment have power over in me?”

Venus Retrograde in Libra: October 26–November 13

When Venus retrogrades back into Libra, the emphasis shifts. Scorpio asks about emotional depth. Libra asks whether the relationship itself is balanced.

Issues involving reciprocity, fairness, compromise, attraction, and interpersonal expectations may become easier to recognize. Agreements that once appeared equitable could require renegotiation.

Because Venus rules Libra, this portion of the retrograde can make relationship questions especially prominent.

Venus sextile Jupiter offers some room for reconciliation, generosity, and perspective. Not every returning issue needs to become a crisis. Some situations can improve once both parties recognize where the balance was lost.

Yet Venus remains square Pluto, suggesting that superficial harmony may not be enough. Problems involving control, manipulation, dependency, or resentment may have to be acknowledged before genuine balance can be restored.

The central question becomes:

“Is this relationship truly balanced, or have we simply learned how to avoid confronting the imbalance?”

Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio: October 25–November 12

Mercury retrograde in Scorpio turns attention toward conversations that have more underneath them than what is being said aloud.

Scorpio Mercury wants to investigate motives, secrets, contradictions, and hidden information. During the retrograde, people may revisit old conversations and discover that something was either misunderstood or deliberately left unsaid.

Mercury’s squares to Mars and Jupiter can make communication especially charged.

Mars increases impatience and defensiveness. Jupiter magnifies opinions, assumptions, and certainty. Together, they can create situations in which people speak strongly before they have all the information. Arguments may escalate quickly because the disagreement is not really about the surface issue.

At its best, however, Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is excellent for investigation, research, psychological insight, and revisiting matters that were never fully resolved the first time. The goal is not merely to repeat an old conversation. It is to understand what the original conversation failed to uncover.

When Venus and Mercury Are Retrograde Together

The most significant portion of this cycle occurs between October 25 and November 12, when Venus and Mercury are simultaneously retrograde.

During that period, matters involving relationships and communication become closely intertwined.

Someone may reconsider how they feel about a relationship at precisely the same time they are reconsidering what was said within it.

Old partners may reappear. Previous disagreements could return. Financial agreements may need revision. People may discover that their values have changed even though their circumstances have not.

It is also a period in which nostalgia can easily be mistaken for compatibility. A returning person or opportunity is not automatically meant to be restored simply because it has returned. Sometimes the purpose of a retrograde is reconciliation, clarification or finally understanding why something ended in the first place.

Aries

Relationships and shared resources may require substantial reassessment during this retrograde cycle. Venus begins in your 8th house, drawing attention toward intimacy, trust, debts, shared money, and emotional dependence. When Venus moves back into Libra, your 7th house of partnerships becomes the focus. An unresolved relationship issue may become impossible to ignore. Mercury retrograde in your 8th house adds difficult but potentially important conversations around vulnerability and expectations. Avoid rushing to define a situation simply because uncertainty makes you uncomfortable. The deeper task is understanding what you actually require from a partnership.

Taurus

As Venus retrogrades through your 7th and 6th houses, relationships and everyday compatibility become closely connected. You may reconsider a partnership, particularly if small recurring issues have gradually accumulated into larger frustrations. An old relationship dynamic could resurface for another look. Mercury retrograde in your partnership sector makes communication especially important. Someone’s intentions may be more complicated than they initially appear. Rather than assuming you already know where another person stands, ask questions. This period can reveal whether a relationship merely has chemistry or whether it can actually function in daily life.

Gemini

Venus retrograde begins in your 6th house of work, routines, and wellbeing, potentially exposing dissatisfaction with the way your everyday life is structured. When Venus moves back into Libra, your 5th house of romance and creativity becomes activated. An old crush, creative interest, or source of enjoyment could return. Mercury retrograde in your 6th house suggests that work systems and schedules may also require revision. Don’t overlook the connection between your daily habits and your ability to enjoy life. The retrogrades may be asking you to make space for something you’ve gradually squeezed out.

Cancer

Venus begins its retrograde in your 5th house, making romance, attraction, creativity, pleasure, and unfinished affairs especially significant. An old romantic situation could return to mind or reappear more literally. When Venus moves back into Libra, questions involving home, family, and emotional security become more important. Mercury retrograde in the 5th can make romantic communication complicated, especially where assumptions or mixed signals are involved. Before reviving something from the past, consider whether you miss the person or simply the feeling associated with that period of your life.

Leo

Venus retrograde initially activates your 4th house of home, family, and emotional foundations. Old family dynamics, living arrangements, or unresolved private concerns may require attention. As Venus moves into Libra, conversations with siblings, relatives, or people in your immediate environment may become part of the story. Mercury retrograde in your 4th house makes the past particularly difficult to ignore. Memories and old grievances can resurface. Rather than trying to win an argument about what happened, focus on understanding why the issue still has emotional power over you.

Virgo

Venus retrograde begins in your 3rd house of communication, placing extra emphasis on conversations, messaging, agreements, and interpersonal misunderstandings. When Venus moves back into Libra, money and self-worth become increasingly relevant. Mercury retrograde also travels through your communication sector, making this one of the more mentally active retrograde periods for you. Recheck details before making assumptions. A financial discussion, contract, or important conversation may require revision. What you say matters, but so does understanding what another person actually heard.

Libra

This Venus retrograde is particularly personal because Venus is your ruling planet and eventually retrogrades back into your sign. The cycle begins in your 2nd house of money and self-worth, asking you to reconsider what you value and what you’re willing to invest in. Once Venus returns to Libra, questions about identity, attractiveness, relationships, and personal priorities become more immediate. Mercury retrograde in your financial sector may also require reviewing purchases or agreements. You may emerge from this cycle wanting different things than you did when it began and that realization may be more important than any specific relationship outcome.

Scorpio

Venus begins retrograding in your sign, making relationships, attraction, appearance, and personal values major themes. You may find yourself reconsidering how you show up in relationships or why certain people affect you as strongly as they do. Once Venus moves back into Libra, some of this process becomes more private. Mercury retrograde in Scorpio adds another layer of introspection. Old conversations, decisions, and identity questions may return. Avoid making dramatic changes simply because you’re uncomfortable with uncertainty. This period is better suited to understanding yourself differently before presenting a new version of yourself to everyone else.

Sagittarius

Venus retrograde initially activates your 12th house, making this a quieter and potentially more introspective relationship cycle. Feelings you thought were finished may return, sometimes without any external trigger. When Venus moves into Libra, friendships and social connections become more important. Mercury retrograde in the 12th can bring old memories, dreams, or private concerns back into awareness. Someone from the past may reappear, but the larger purpose could simply be closure. Not every returning connection needs another chapter. Sometimes its final purpose is helping you understand the previous one.

Capricorn

Venus begins retrograding through your 11th house of friendships, networks, and long-term goals. A friendship or professional connection may require reassessment, and you could reconsider whether your current social environment still supports where you’re headed. When Venus moves back into Libra, career and reputation become more prominent. Mercury retrograde in your 11th house can reconnect you with old contacts or previous ambitions. A former opportunity could become relevant again. Before pursuing it, ask whether it still fits the person you’ve become rather than merely appealing to the person you used to be.

Aquarius

Venus retrograde begins in your 10th house of career and public reputation, potentially prompting a reassessment of professional relationships, ambitions, or how you want to be perceived. When Venus returns to Libra, larger questions about meaning, education, travel, and future direction come into focus. Mercury retrograde in your career sector may bring old projects, conversations, or professional opportunities back around. Avoid judging an opportunity solely by prestige. You may be reconsidering not only how to succeed, but what kind of success is actually worth pursuing.

Pisces

Venus begins its retrograde in your 9th house of beliefs, travel, education, and perspective. A relationship, experience, or idea from the past may challenge the way you currently understand something. When Venus moves back into Libra, intimacy and shared resources become more important. Mercury retrograde in your 9th house can cause you to revisit an old philosophy, course of study, travel plan, or long-range goal. This period asks you to remain open to changing your mind. Growth sometimes means discovering that a belief which once helped you expand has eventually become another limitation.
