A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes directly between the Sun and the Earth, blocking out the Sun’s light. This can only happen when the Sun, Moon, and Earth are perfectly aligned, an aspect that only occurs briefly once every few years. During a solar eclipse, the Moon casts a shadow on the Earth’s surface, causing the Sun to appear dark in the sky. For a few minutes, day turns to night and the stars become visible. Solar eclipses are a relatively rare phenomenon, but they offer a unique opportunity to witness one of nature’s most amazing shows.
However, it’s important to be aware of the risks involved in looking at a solar eclipse. Without proper eye protection, you can damage your vision. So if you’re planning on watching an eclipse, be sure to wear safety glasses or use a handheld viewer. From an astrological standpoint, solar eclipses also represent a conjunction aspect between sun and moon. When the moon or any planet comes this close to the center of the sun, it is called cazimi. When this happens, the moon or planet is said to be combust and its effects are overpowered by the sun’s radiance. This however, is considered to be an auspicious time to start new endeavors where the chance of success is highly probable.

1. Jussie Smollett (born June 21, 1982) – partial eclipse of the sun in Gemini
Jussie Smollett is an American actor and singer, once best known for his role as Jamal Lyon on the Fox musical drama series Empire. However, his fame as an actor was eclipsed by his role in a 2019 hate crime hoax scandal. In January 2019, Smollett reported to Chicago police that he was the victim of a hate crime attack by two men who shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him, poured bleach on him, and put a rope around his neck. After the attack, Smollett spoke out publicly about the incident, calling it a “racial and homophobic hate crime.” The story made national headline news, and Smollett quickly became a symbol of strength and resilience in the face of hate. In March 2019, however, it was revealed that Smollett had staged the entire attack, and he was subsequently charged with filing a false police report. The incident caused a public backlash against Smollett, who was widely criticized for his actions. On December 9, 2021 he was found guilty on 5 of 6 counts of disorderly conduct for making a false report to the Chicago Police Department.
